A Musical directed by Alex Guerrero
This production is a romantic musical comedy written by Ken Ludwig and featuring the music of George & Ira Gershwin. In addition to the lead characters, the cast highlights a team of dancing showgirls and an ensemble of singing and tap dancing (yes, tap dancing!) cowboys.
The show is set in the 1930's beginning in New York City, but quickly transports west to Deadrock, Nevada. It's here that our leading man, Bobby Childs, falls in love with the town's resident female, Polly Baker, unbeknownst to her that he's actually landed there to foreclose on her family-owned, local theatre. Once smitten though, Bobby becomes determined to save the theatre with a clever (and zany!) plan while winning over not only Polly, but the whole population of Deadrock. "Crazy for You" features an entire evening of show stopping dance numbers and highlights numerous iconic songs from the Gershwin catalog including "I Got Rhythm", "Embraceable You", "Nice Work If You Can Get It", and many, many others that are guaranteed to win over any audience.
Originating based on the 1930 Broadway smash "Girl Crazy" with a new, laugh-a-minute book by Ken Ludwig, "Crazy For You" won the 1992 Tony Award for Best Musical, as well as the 1993 Olivier Award in London and the 1994 Dora Award in Toronto.
